“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” – Matthew 7:15
THERE MAY BE NO cult so formidable in its duplicity, so well-trained in its sophistry, so thorough in its perversion, as that devilish sect of pseudo-Christians called “Jehovah’s Witnesses.” They are the “false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ” of which Paul so soberly warned the church at Corinth. They are false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. As the ministers of Satan, they masquerade as the ministers of righteousness, spreading their foul deceptions as if they were truth, and seducing the gullible into supposing them to be “real” Christians. When confronted with the word of God, they must respond only with sophistry and nonsensical, disingenuous questions, for they have no recourse to the truth.
Alas, I digress. It is not my intention, in these pages, to elaborate upon the sundry deceptions and profound despicableness of the Jehovah’s Witnesses cult. Many books could be, and have been, written on that subject. Rather, I aim to address their perversion of the gospel of Jesus Christ, by comparing their detestable lies with the pure Scriptural truths they so ruthlessly, and shamelessly, corrupt.
JEHOVAH’S FALSE WITNESSES’ FALSE GOSPEL
This information is taken directly from the official Jehovah’s Witnesses website. On their beliefs page, beneath heading number five, we find the following heretical statements concerning “salvation”:
Deliverance from sin and death is possible through the ransom sacrifice of Jesus. (Matthew 20:28, Acts 4:12) To benefit from that sacrifice, people must not only exercise faith in Jesus but also change their course of life and get baptized. (Matthew 28:19, 20; John 3:16; Acts 3:19,20) A person’s works prove that his faith is alive. (James 2:24, 26) However, salvation cannot be earned—it comes through “the undeserved kindness of God.”— Galatians 2:16, 21.
The first falsehood within this paragraph is the term “Jesus”, which is used twice. I do not know of any “Jesus” who can save sinners. I do, bless God, know of Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens (Hebrews 7:26). I know of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world (John 1:29). I know of Jesus Christ, God in the flesh (1 Timothy 3:16), who paid for my sins with his precious blood (1 Peter 1:18-19) and bodily rose from the dead for my justification (Romans 4:25).
No, the Jesus of the Bible is not some god-like being formed from the angel Michael, as Jehovah’s Witnesses falsely teaches, but he is THE SON OF GOD (John 3:16). Be wary, my brethren, of that which some professing have erred concerning the faith. If they will not name the name of Christ, they are not brethren, but deceivers and antichrists. There are many “Jesuses” in this world, of which we are warned against (2 Corinthians 11:4), but there is only one Christ, the Son of the living God (Matthew 16:16).
JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES VERSUS THE BIBLE
How does the false gospel of Jehovah’s Witnesses compare with the word of God, the King James Bible?
JW FALSE GOSPEL: “To benefit from that sacrifice, people must not only exercise faith in Jesus but also change their course of life and get baptized.”
John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Acts 16:31: “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”
Ephesians 2:8-9: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Titus 3:5: “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and the renewing of the Holy Ghost.”
John 3:36: “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth upon him.”
You will notice that the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ “plan of salvation”, after insisting that one must change their life and be baptized to be saved, then insists that “salvation cannot be earned”. Oh, what irony we find in every “faith plus works” false gospel, which pretends to be “by grace through faith”, while simultaneously demanding a changed life as proof of salvation. Nay, and not only irony, but confusion, and much of it, for what else can arise from being told that a free gift must be earned? God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33).
Nowhere in the King James Bible are we told to do anything but B-E-L-I-E-V-E on Jesus Christ as our Savior to have eternal life. We are not told to change our life to be saved. We are not told to forsake our sins to be saved. We are not told to be baptized to be saved. We are only told to BELIEVE ON JESUS CHRIST. A man is saved when he, having realized he is a sinner, and that sinners cannot escape everlasting destruction in hell by their good works, believes that Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God, died on Calvary’s cross for his sins, was buried, and bodily resurrected three days later. That’s it. No more, no less.
CONCLUSION
Jehovah’s Witnesses is a Satanic cult. Since they deny that Jesus is the Christ, they are antichrists (1 John 2:22). Since they preach a false gospel of faith in a false Messiah plus baptism and a changed life, they are accursed (Galatians 1:8-9). You must remember, Christian, to “believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1). Do not rely upon your finite reasoning and limited understanding when you encounter these devilish cults. Their false gospels are subtle, as was Satan in the garden of Eden, and can easily overpower an intellect not buttressed by the Scriptures. That is why, brother, your delight must be in the law of the Lord, the word of God.
